Welcome to the Home page for MG TC7950

Details and Preliminaries

The build date for MGTC 7950 was 17th February 1949. It was first registered in Australia in June 1949 and according to the original Brown book it was first serviced on 17th June 1949 after 500 miles.

I have spent the past 10 years restoring every nut, bolt and seal on the vehicle. The car was completely stripped to the chassis beginning the restoration in 2004.

I have documented most stages of the process and hope my pics and details are of assistance to anyone who is contemplating such a project or anyone who is just interested in lovely old cars.

I am a retired Secondary Maths / Physics / IT teacher and have always been very mechanically minded.

At times I found the rebuild very difficult and frustrating and it was a love hate relationship! Sometimes more hate than love. I would at times just walk away to think about another way to solve a difficult problem. Never give up and always persevere. It is well worth the effort. I can only say that only after 10 years!! Now it is all love. I don’t pretend to have all the answers and my solutions to the many frustrating problems may not be the “accepted” norm but I am very pleased with the final outcome and it is a beautiful little car.

If my site can help you in any way then I am pleased. The site also serves me and my friends as a record and reminder  of the restoration and it can be universally accessed via the web.
